Hello and welcome! My name is Mandy, I’m from Lake Saint Louis, Missouri. I’ve recently started Alternate Day / Intermittent Fasting as a lifestyle change and have lost 18 pounds. So, it’s definitely working!
Here at Whale Owl Bee! (an animal pun for ‘Well I’ll be!’) I’ll be sharing recipes and their calories for anyone who is also either a calorie counter or participating in the ADF lifestyle!
I carefully calculate all of my home cooked meals calories, or if I find a recipe online, I also calculate the calories in those before making them.
If you’re unsure of what ADF entails, I’ll give a short overview below:
Alternate Day Fasting is when you fast on alternate days. I currently am fasting Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I’m thinking about switching to every other day, but for now the static days are easier for me. I generally will spend 40-42 hours fasting (basically from dinner the night before a fasting day and until lunch on my next eating day).
On my eating days I stay between my TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) and BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate). You can calculate yours here: https://tdeecalculator.net/
For the intermittent part of my fasting, I skip breakfast most days. I’ve never really been much of a breakfast person anyway, so that’s not really difficult for me.
